Laura Sullivan ist eine US-amerikanische Pianistin und Komponistin von New-Age- und zeitgenössischer Musik.^[1]

Leben

Die Tochter der Kinderbuchautorin Carol Purdy^[2] (5. Januar 1943–14. Mai 2005)^[3] begann mit dem Klavierspielen im Alter von vier Jahren. Das Klavierspielen lernte sie zunächst von ihrer Mutter.^[4] Ihre Kindheit verbrachte Laura Sullivan auf einer Farm in Norden Kaliforniens.^[1] Sie machte einen Bachelor in Musik und einen Master in Psychologie an der University of San Francisco.^[5] Sullivan unterrichtete Musik.^[2]

Laura Sullivan wurde für ihr 2013 veröffentlichtes Album "Love's River" am 26. Januar 2014 in der Kategorie Bestes New-Age-Album mit einem Grammy Award ausgezeichnet.^[1] Mit ihrer Nominierung war sie eine von nur neun Frauen, die in dieser Kategorie in der bis dahin 27-jährigen Geschichte der Grammy Awards nominiert worden sind. Das Album wurde von ihr und ihrem Mann Eric in ihrem gemeinsamen Studio im Großraum San Francisco produziert und über ihr eigenes Label Sentient Spirit Records veröffentlicht. Das Album erreichte Platz 2 der ZoneMusicReporter-Charts. Will Ackerman, Nancy Rumbel, Jeff Oster, Eugene Friesen und Jill Haley waren an dem Album beteiligt.^[6] Weiterhin erhielt sie bereits einen Emily A. Hauss Music Award und einen Jane Bowman Jewett Music Award.^[5]

Laura Sullivan schrieb einige Musicals für Kinder. Die Musicals wurden von ihrem Team Star Company Children’s Theater produziert".^[1]

Sie lebt mit ihrem Ehemann Eric Sullivan^[4] und ihrer Tochter in der Nähe von San Francisco an der Küste Kaliforniens.^[1]
