Wille & The Bandits ist eine englische Roots-Rock-Band aus Plymouth, Grafschaft Devon im Südwesten Englands. Die Band wurde 2006 gegründet.

Bandgeschichte

Die Geschichte der Band begann, als der in Australien geborene Wille Edwards für eine Zeit zurück nach Australien ging, nachdem er die Schule in Großbritannien beendete. Zurück in UK brachte ihn ein gemeinsamer Freund von Wille Edwards und dem US-amerikanischen Musiker Joe Bonamassa mit den Schlagzeuger Andrew Naumann zusammen, woraus bei gemeinsamen Auftritten die Band Wille & The Bandits entstanden ist. Seit vielen Jahren spielt auch der Bassist Matthew Brooks mit. Sie spielten bereits in der Pariser Music Hall Olympia, waren bei zwei Tourneen der in den 1960er Jahren gegründeten englischen Rockband Status Quo dabei und waren Opener von Joe Bonamassa sowie dem 1998 gegründeten australischen Blues-Folkrock-Trio John Butler Trio.[2]

Weiter war Wille & The Bandits bereits Supportband für den US-amerikanischen Musiker Eric Bibb (* 1951), für den britischen Hip-Hop-Künstler Roots Manuva (* 1972) und für den schottischen Musiker Finley Quaye (* 1974).

Veröffentlichungen

Zunächst erschien 2008 die EP "Samsara". Das Debütalbum "New Breed" wurde dann am 2. Mai 2010 veröffentlicht. Das zweite Album "Breakfree" folgte 2012. Es wurde von der Band und Paul Castle in den Faraday Studios in London aufgenommen und produziert. Das dritte Album "Grow" wurde in den Propagation House Studios in Cornwall, England aufgenommen und gemastert. Am 10. Oktober 2013 erschien zunächst die Single "Gyspy Woman", am 14. Oktober 2013 folgte das Album. "Grow" ist das erste selbstproduzierte Album und das erste landesweit im Verkauf erschienene Album.[3] Anschließend ging die Band im November auf Albumtour über 20 Stationen durch das UK. Am 21. Februar 2014 ist das Album in Deutschland über das Indie-Label Fat Toad Records erschienen. Anschließend ging die Band in Deutschland auf Tour. Dabei spielten sie im März 2014 in Hamburg, Bremen, Dresden, Berlin, München, Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf und Osnabrück.[4] Am 8. März 2014 veröffentlichte die Band die Single "Trouble Down the Line". Am 20. Januar 2017 folgte das nächste Album "STEAL".

Tourneen & Festivals

Wille & The Bandits ist häufig auf Tour und auf Musikfestivals zu sehen. Die Band spielt bis zu 250 Shows im Jahr.[5] Darunter waren bisher auch folgende Festivalauftritte:

2008

Im Mai 2008 spielten sie auf dem Plymouth Volksfest in Plympton, Devon, England.[6] Im Juli 2008 spielten sie auf dem Larmer Tree Festival in England.[7]

2009

Am 4. Juli 2009[8] spielten sie auf dem Summer Breeze Festival in Liddington, Wiltshire, England. Am 26. Juli 2009 spielten sie auf dem Village Pump Folk Festival in der Nähe von Trowbridge, Grafschaft Wiltshire, England.

2010

Am 27. Juni 2010 spielten sie auf dem Glastonbury Festival 2010 in England[9] Am 31. Juli 2010 auf dem Rock en Stock Festival in Étaples, Département Pas-de-Calais, Frankreich[10] Am 29. August 2010 hatten sie einen Auftritt auf dem Shambala Festival in Northamptonshire, England.[11][12] Einen weiteren Auftritt hatte die Band am 31. Oktober 2010 auf dem Watergate Bay Surf Lodge "Surf 'n' Roots" Festival.[13]

2011

Die Band stand im September 2011 im Line-up des Ivy LIVE Festivals in Ivybridge, England.

2012

Im Juli 2012 spielten sie erneut auf dem Summer Breeze Festival in Liddington, Wiltshire, England.[14]

Im September 2012 spielten hatten sie am Tag 5 im Olympic Park der Sommer-Paralympics 2012 in London.[15]

2013

Am 12. April 2013 spielten sie auf dem Party Time Festival in Château-d’Œx, Kanton Waadt, Schweiz.[16] Mitte Juni 2013 traten sie beim Isle of Wight Festival" auf.[17] Am 15. August 2013 spielten sie auf dem Green Man Festival in Brecon Beacons, Wales[18] Ende Juni 2013 spielten sie auf dem Fusion Festival in Lärz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Deutschland.[19] Im August 2013 spielten sie auf dem Lakefest in Gloucestershire, England.[20] Im August/September spielten sie auf dem Over The Hill Music Festival 2013 in Hendra Croft, Rejerrah, Newquay, Cornwall, England.[21]

2014

Ende Mai/Anfang Juni standen sie im Line-up des Sunrise Festivals in der Nähe von Bristol, England.[22] Ende Juli/Anfang August spielten sie auf dem Burg-Herzberg-Festival in Breitenbach am Herzberg, Hessen, Deutschand. Am 9. August ist ein Auftritt beim Fairport Fringe Festival 2014 geplant.[23] Mitte August spielt die Band bei dem Musikfestival Beautiful Days 2014 in Devon, England.[24]

2016

Vom 1. Oktober bis 2. Dezember 2016 ging die Band auf Tour.[25] Vom 19. bis 22. Oktober 2016 gab die Band dabei vier Auftritte mit Support von Echo Town.[26] Vom 30. Oktober bis 6. November 2016 war die Band dabei durch Irland und Wales unterwegs.[27] Vom 13. November bis 2. Dezember 2016 war die Band dabei in den Niederlanden, Deutschland, Belgien und der Schweiz unterwegs.[28] Am 2. Dezember 2016 spielten sie dabei ihr letztes Konzert 2016 in Hannover.[29]

2017

Vom 20. Januar[30] bis 26. März 2017 war die Band auf Albumtour durch das UK. Fünf Shows waren dabei ausverkauft.[31] Danach folgten sechs Shows als Support für die englische Independent-Band New Model Army.[32] Vom 14. April bis 1. Juni 2017 tourt die Band durch Europa. Dabei spielt sie in Deutschland, den Niederlanden, Belgien, Slowakei, Tschechien und Österreich. Dabei spielen sie auf dem Blues Festival in Ingolstadt.[33] Vom 3. bis 28. Oktober 2017 war die Band erneut auf Tour durch das Vereinigte Königreich. Vom 2. bis 12. November 2017 waren sie in Australien auf Tour.[34] Vom 1. bis 14. Dezember 2017 waren sie in Deutschland auf Tour. Am 2. Dezember machten sie dabei für einen Auftritt einen Abstecher in die Niederlanden.[35]

2018
